‘Liminal Angel’ is about the presence of energy after a place has been vacated, abandoned, and left to rot. Walking through an empty 29 floor penthouse in the Midwest overcast Fall sky on a Sunday at 3pm was like being in an alternate dimension. The smell of mold, dead fly carcasses and scattered mouse droppings on a floor that looked like it had just been vacuumed. Two chairs face a bed that is surrounded by windows overlooking the cityscape. If you listen to the silence, you can hear the voices of the dead or the withered beings that pass from one place to another. If you listen to the silence, you can hear them sing to you, the voices from the depths of the concrete. Driving around in rain and fog, the feeling stays with you. Look over your shoulder to make sure no one is behind you; you feel the presence there. Lost love, lost voices, trying to make their way out of the cave of loneliness.

There is something purely American about seeing decay, abandonment, and ruin. Nowhere else can you see the despair of Capitalism than in a vacated penthouse on a Sunday afternoon.

I stepped out of the door and could hear the trapped voices trying to make their way out.
